54 : REVENGE MAY BE LOWER BUT NOT GREATER THAN HARM

If you lose your ground for patience and gain for anger, you may at most revenge up to the extent of being harmed but better is forgiveness or combining pardon with revenge at various proportions (42:40). For example, if you are harmed at 100%, it's better for you to show 100% forgiveness. Otherwise, the next best alternative is to show 70% revenge, as for example and the remainder 30% will be part of pardon. But in no case you are allowed a retaliatory response in excess of 100% of the harm.
