Bible Is Similar To Hadith But Different From Quran

30 : BIBLE IS SIMILAR TO HADITH BUT DIFFERENT FROM QURAN

The Bible has points of similarity with the Hadith (the Prophet's tradition) and difference with the Quran. Now these are figured out below.

(a) The Bible is Similar to the Hadith:

(i) God is the original source of most contents of both the documents as He inspired both his genuine Prophets in telling the truth and they are not supposed to lie unless their followers made mistakes in reporting on their behalf.
(ii) Neither the Bible nor the Hadith were personally written respectively by Jesus and Mohammad. These were written by their followers after their death.

(iii) Since the followers authored these holy books based on whatever they remembered of their prophets had said during their lifetime. As a natural consequence, not only their works were likely to have numerous versions, they were also likely to include contradictions and less reliable information. That is why, we see numerous versions of Bible like those by Mark, Mathew, John, Luke etc. Likewise six compilations of Hadith including those of Bukhari, Muslim etc. are more reliable than versions by other narrators.

(b) The Bible is Different from the Quran:

(i) The above shows that the Bible as we see today is indirect message from God. The Quran, by contrast, is the direct words of God like His tape recorded message. Its messages were one and all recorded immediately after each revelation by the hands of the Prophet's scribe. Such recording of the Quran was complete and properly safeguarded during the life time of the Prophet even if its compilation or publication took place after his death.

(ii) Since the Quran was direct words of God and its purity was never compromised, it has all along been a one and unified version. It therefore leaves no room for conflicts and controversy with respect to God's position on any ruling. By contrast, Bible represents indirect message from God as described through Jesus's followers after his death. This resulted in numerous versions of the Bible, setting itself apart from the Quran both in respect of quantity (of versions) and quality (reliability).

It appears from the above that the Bible and the Hadith are so much similar that they can be placed on both sides of an equation, while the Quran is stationed just above their level. This reality was caught up in Maurice Bukaili's book "The Bible, The Quran and Science".
