28 : WHY GOD IS THE BEST ONE TO BE WORSHIPPED

All divine religions in original condition started with a belief in one God. Later, they deviated from this monotheistic tradition. A careful thought given to this matter will establish that the belief in one real God (Allah) helps the cause of maximum human welfare. Because He is the only one who is unique in existence and superlative in virtues like Ever-living, All-Powerful, All Merciful, All-Knowing and so on. Any other partners that people invent for worship can never come close to His qualifications.

Natural Elements: If you worship natural elements like sun, moon, earthquake etc., you must realize that they have no life or spirit to cause you any help (such as through sunshine) or harm (through tornado, for example) and these forces act only according to the wishes of God. If you worship animals like cow, monkey or snake, then you must remember that they do not have the rationality like you nor do they possess any other attributes that deserve your worship. They might help you with milk, meat etc. but only under beneficial design of God (36:71).

Statues or Idols: The statues or idols that some people make for worship are farther away from the animals in respect of possessing godly qualities and personalities. They have no life at all to help or harm you anyway. They are so powerless that they cannot even help themselves from the attack of a tiny insect or worm. If you consider them to be a concrete symbol of a god, then you cannot overcome the fact that the real God is a figureless Infinity Who cannot be properly understood by means of a limited figure.

Relatives of God: Likewise, there is no good sense in inventing relatives (like son, daughter, wife etc.) of God from amongst the humans for a number of reasons. (i) God disowns His relationship with any human beings. (ii) There is a basic difference between the Invisible God and concrete human beings. It is not only impossible but also ridiculous to conceive of any physical or marital relationship between God and any of His creations. (iii) As an embodiment of supreme virtues (like Ever-living, Almighty, Omniscient etc.,) God is separated from His creatures by an unbridgeable gap. All these creations are merely His servants and with weaknesses like death, diseases, lack of control over fate etc., they are disqualified as a God. Some miracles of a person (say prophet) may mislead you to consider him a god. But the fact remains that their miracles come only from God and such miracles do not elevate their status to God.

Dead Ancestors: Similarly, you should not worship any imaginary spirits of your dead ancestors in a belief that they have powers to impact your life through good or bad. In fact, it is not these spirits but the real God who does that.
On the whole, out of ignorance or for any other reason, believing or worshipping any or many gods other than the real God will not only be a wrong step but also a harmful one. So you will be acting wise if you believe in One God Who is the only one endowed with all the virtues of a real God and therefore the Best one to be worshipped.
