Back in April 1980, in an isolated location, the idea flashed upon my mind that I should write one or two books, covering most key contents of Islam. The purpose was to help the readers with saving enormous amount of time needed for reading countless books available on Islam. Then followed a long period of time when I was engaged in studying 3 versions of Quranic translations (by honorable scholars namely Yusuf Ali, Maududi and Shafi), then highlighting the key points for distributing them among 100 relevant but widely diverse Islamic topics, with total coverage of 2000 plus verses. These topics were later developed into 100 self- contained Islamic chapters (50 for each book), featured with interpretation in the light of moderation, the preferred middle path between extremism liberalism. Only English translation was used for avoiding undesirable touch of Arabic Quran without ablution. Verses were cut short if needed for better relevance and smoother flow of expression ...
Moderate Islam Global (MIG): What & Why?
Moderation:-
Moderation is the way of Islam. It is, in fact, not a divisive variety of Islam as some people sometimes misunderstand. In reality, it means interpreting or practicing Islam along the preferred middle course in between upper extremism and lower end liberalism. For example, the Prophet of Islam (s) advised his companions not to be over- enthusiastic to observe optional fasting for days in a row, bringing in physical hardships and challenges to halal income. On the other hand, he also did not like them to always forgo optional fasting particularly on selected days, Arafa & Ashura additional to must-do Ramadan fasting. Thus moderation does not mean liberalism going to the extent of negligence in Islamic essentials.
Moderation Endorsed by the Holy Quran:
It appears from the above that objecting to the concept of moderation will ultimately amount to faithless opposition to the rulings of Quran. Obviously, moderation not only makes your life easier but it also achieves some desirable benefits. It also sets tone of optimism like ‘half glass full’ instead of ‘half glass empty’ theory even if both means the same.
Islam:-
Among 4 sources of Islamic laws (Sharia), MIG accords highest priority to the Quran, followed by the Prophet’s tradition (Hadith). Accordingly, almost one-third key Quranic verses (nearly 2,200 out of 6,666 verses with barely any repetitions) became part of the twin books covering 100 chapters on diverse Islamic essentials. Hadiths were also used as supporting ornaments. Best possible attempts were made to leave no important contents outside of these books.
Global:-
MIG took upon the mission of spreading out the Messages of God among both global Muslims and Non-Muslims alike for whom the universal religion Islam was meant. Thus justice is done to the Non-Muslims who proportionately number more than 3 for each Muslim on earth. This is in keeping with God’s revelations: “Oh People! After the break in the series of prophets, The Prophet (Muhammad pbuh) has come to you, making things clear to you so that later (on Judgment Day) you cannot say ‘No one came to us with good news and warn us from evils’ (5:19)
