33 : WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR "0" SMALL POX SINCE 1980?
Islam
somewhat looks like a democracy but it is also
otherwise different, as appears from below:
(i) Democracy is a system of government elected
by the people and people have rights. Among man-made
system of governments, it appears to be the best.
However, being the product of humanity, it bears
some signs of limited human wisdom and their narrow
self-interest. For example, ancient Greece, the
founder of democracy, meant voting rights only
for the male, rich aristocrats. America, the leader
of the democratic world, took about 150 years
to grant voting rights under intense pressure
to the women. In this way, democracy keeps on
changing shape and size, playing to the interest
and ignorance of its practitioners.
(ii) Islam, by contrast, does not leave the wellbeing
of humanity at the mercy of few powerful people
who tend to be selfish and harmful to others in
above way. God provides for a system of Islamic
governance which is not only generally beneficial
but also likely to be durable.
(iii) A democratic government tends to give rights
to the people. The reason is to gain necessary
votes in order to be reelected and avoid the risk
of being kicked out through impeachment during
its term. In practice, people usually do not end
up with the rights they deserve due to undesirable
or corrupt practices. Powerful party often illegally
grabs votes by providing illegal incentives or
practicing intimidation or violence. Gaining power
that way, it then uses its majority power (even
if that be slim edge say 51% over 49%) to give
special favor to its people and discriminate against
minority opposition. This may cause retaliation
and frequent changes of government.
What's more, oftentimes there is lack of right
balance among the three branches within the government.
For example, the head of executive branch usually
a powerful President may override the wishes of
the lawmaking body (legislature) and control the
court system (judiciary) and get laws passed that
help his dictatorial ambitions, contrary to public
interest. Such harmful flexibility is not allowed
in the Islamic system of government. It derives
laws from God who knows best which rights will
be always be beneficial for the people and warns
against violation of these rights.
